Become a Mentor
All children have the potential to succeed in life and contribute to society. But, not all children get the support they need to thrive. You can change that by becoming a volunteer mentor in the YMCA ASPIRE Program. As a mentor, you’ll help young students soar to new heights and blossom with creativity, character, and confidence. You can provide one-on-one homework assistance, share a talent or skill, offer career and college guidance, and provide support that will last throughout a child’s life. Your friendship, encouragement, and caring are priceless.
Mentors are caring adults (ages 21 or older) who are matched with mentee students (ages 8-14 years old). Mentors pass a Washington State Patrol Background Check and commit to a relationship for a minimum of one year, usually meeting for 3-4 hours total each month. Students fill out a mentee application, and we carefully match mentors and students in the hopes of a lasting, meaningful friendship.
