Benefits of lifeguarding at the YMCA: Lifeguarding is one of the best early career opportunities for teens and young adults. Lifeguard certification classes help develop leadership and communication skills and can lead to improved self-confidence. Plus, lifeguards often have to work together, which helps with using communication skills and can prepare someone for a future career in a team-oriented environment.

We bring men, women, and children—just like you—together to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve health and well-being, and foster a sense of social responsibility, so everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. You can join our team of volunteers who are united by a deep commitment to strengthen our community.

Volunteer opportunities depend on the needs of the YAKIMA FAMILY YMCA and may vary throughout the year. If there is a particular area you’d like to offer your services, please contact the department director of that given area.

Disclaimer: The YAKIMA FAMILY YMCA does not accept volunteers wishing to complete community service hours.
