  • Under ADA and WA State Law, any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other disability, is allowed in our facility. Service dogs are allowed to accompany the individual to any place in the building or facility where members, guests and program participants are allowed. The individual must remain with their service dog at all times. If it is not apparent what your service dog does, we may ask you if it is a service dog and what tasks it performs for you. Under WA State law, dogs that assist deaf or hard of hearing individuals must wear an identifying orange collar.
  • Neither the ADA nor WA State Law covers dogs or support animals whose function is to provide comfort or emotional support, even with a doctor’s note.

And, we may exclude the service dog if it poses a direct threat to health and safety (i.e. if dog is aggressively barking and snapping at others). The service dog may also be excluded if it is not housebroken, or if it is out of control and the individual is unable or unwilling to effectively control it.
