Water & Boating Safety Event

YMCA + Aquatic Center

From oceans to lakes to streams to swimming pools, water is everywhere; 71% of the Earth's surface is covered in it! And while water can be an irresistible place for kids to explore, play and enjoy splashing fun, it can be risk for those who haven't yet developed their water smarts. And being that May is National Water Safety Month, the YMCA is excited to partner with the Yakima Valley Sheriff’s Department for a water and boating safety event.

Location: YMCA & Yakima Rotary Aquatic Center

Scheduled Events:

1pm-4pm: Inside the Aquatic Center, there will include two water safety demonstrations led by the Sheriff’s Dept., FREE lifejacket giveaway (limit #) plus lifejacket fitting. There will also be water safety information for families, coloring books and chances to win free rec swim passes, and more!

11am-5pm: The Sheriff's Department will assist in water safety demonstrations and provide FREE Water Vessel Safety Inspections in the Yakima Rotary Aquatics Center parking lot (3800 River Road) from 11am-5pm.
